Amateur Trapshooting Association is proud to announce the 2007 US Open in Sparta, IL.

Vandalia, Ohio – January 23, 2007—The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is working in conjunction with the Illinois State Trapshooting Association to conduct the 2007 US Open Trapshooting Championships. The event will occur at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta, Illinois May 10-13, 2007.

In 2006, the US Open, which was held in July, was the first trapshooting event held at the WSRC and hosted more than 1,500 shooters. In 2007, the tournament will consist of 4 days of events, will include 4 All-American competition factor points and will offer more than $15,000 in prizes plus added money. Plus, all camping leases held by ATA members through the IDNR for registered ATA tournaments will be honored at the Shooting Complex.

Additionally, the ATA, IDNR, and ISTA would like to express their great appreciation to the sponsors of the US Open that will make the event possible for the second year in a row: White Flyer, Winchester, and Browning.

The Amateur Trapshooting Association is the governing body for the sport of trapshooting and hosts the Grand American every August. The Grand American is the world’s largest shooting event with more than 6,000 competitors during the 13-day event. The Grand American takes place at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta, Illinois.
