MN - Turkey Stamp Contest Winner Announced

A painting by John House of three wild turkeys in a cornfield that runs along a wooded edge will be featured on Minnesota's 2008 Wild Turkey Stamp. The Evansville, Minn., artist's design was chosen today in a contest sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Stephen P. Hamrick of Lakeville finished second and Mark L. Kness of Albert Lea finished third. Hamrick's painting depicted a pair of toms crossing a rolling farm field in spring. The Kness painting featured a strutting tom in the foreground with a hen feeding at the base of a tree in the background.
